Portofino is one of my all-time favorite places to travel to. Portofino is a beautiful small village on the Italian Riviera coastline, and features numerous colorful houses, shops and boutiques, and great restaurants all around the turquoise blue harbor of the town. I’ve been to Portofino a few times, and every time I find something new and beautiful about the town. I took a few GoPro videos while walking around the town and up to Castello Brown (the best view of Portofino), but some of the clips I thought I got didn’t end up downloading onto my laptop when I got home. I still managed to get a lot of really great pictures of Portofino, though! Check it out below:
First, a stop in Rapallo, which is only about a 15-20 minute (beautiful) drive to Portofino, Rapallo itself is also worth checking out.
If I had to pick one European country to eat in for the rest of my life, it would 100% be Italy; I never got tired of the meals there.
The view from where we were having lunch/dinner on the first day in Rapallo^
More of Rapallo
From the back of the Excelsior Palace Hotel in Rapallo, Italy- where we were staying.
Above are all views from when we were driving from Rapallo to Portofino, which isn’t that long of a drive- If it was though, I wouldn’t mind because the views on the way there are so gorgeous.
Walking through and around Portofino and by the harbor
Mopeds and scooters are really popular in Europe, and people ride them almost anywhere^
We had a quick lunch/snack break before heading up to Castello Brown for the best view of Portofino.
On our way up to Castello Brown, there were already some really amazing views just from walking up the stairs.
Finally, we reached the top to Castello Brown. Once you reach the top, you can check out inside the castle. Inside holds many areas where you can get great views of the Riviera. On the outside area though, you can get a great view of the Portofino harbor and all that surrounds it as well.
The Portofino Harbor
Now for making our way back down to Portofino…
Back down to the Portofino harbor from Castello Brown.
This time, we were staying in Rapallo which is a town very close to Portofino. There’s so much to do and see in Portofino, by the harbor, and in all the nearby towns that you’ll never get bored or run out of things to do while there. Exploring the harbor and town of Portofino and Rapallo and all they have to offer is a must-do along with going up to Castello Brown to see the views of Portofino. It was my third time going to Portofino this last summer, and I would go many times again because it’s such a beautiful and picturesque area with so many different things to do and see. Out of everywhere I’ve been in Italy, Portofino and the surrounding areas definitely holds one of the top spots for must see areas and towns in Italy.
