Stopping through Florence, or Firenze, was such an unexpected treat. We were making our way through Italy, and we decided to stop for a night in Florence and check out as much as we could. This was my very first time in Florence, so I was excited to get to see a little bit of it. When we stayed the night in Florence, we actually stayed about 15 minutes or so outside of the center of the town at a hotel called Eden Rock Resort, which was really nice. The hotel we had stayed at had views of the center of Florence, along with a little bit of the countryside (Tuscany)- it was so pretty! I’ll include some GoPro videos of the view from our hotel (and more of Florence) below. Some of the GoPro videos I got from Florence also got lost/deleted like some of the clips from Milan and Zermatt, but I still managed to put together a little video of the clips I did get.
One of the views out of my room of the countryside. We stayed at the Eden Rock Resort, a little bit outside of Florence. The hotel was really nice- it had a pool area, and was surrounded by the Tuscan countryside. It was smaller than some other hotels we’ve stayed at, but still very nice.
The pool area was a plus as well, as it offered views (like all around the hotel), of the center of Florence and the countryside. We ended up actually having a light lunch at the pool area (peep above), and then later venturing into parts of Florence for dinner.
More views from the hotel of Firenze + some of the countryside^
By the time we were ready to head into Florence, the sun was already starting to set- so we headed right to the overlook area of Florence to get great views of the main area of the city. We headed right up to the Piazza lookout area which also had a statue of David- similar to the famous marble one in the center of the city (we didn’t make it to the center this trip, we didn’t have time really).
The piazza lookout area (or Piazzale Michelangiolo 2) had the best view of the main center of Florence, and also one of the famous David statues^
Just a bit higher up from the Piazza, we ate at La Loggia
I would definitely recommend going up to the Piazza and going to the lookout area for a really great view of the main center of Florence, and also going into the center if you have the time. Our time in Florence was short, but in the amount of time we had, we covered a fair amount and saw some really beautiful parts of Firenze and Tuscany.
Here’s a little compilation of the only clips I got from my GoPro of Florence, and some views from Tuscany/ the countryside.
