Driving through the Swiss Alps was one of the coolest experiences; very few cars were on the winding roads, and we were just in the scenic mountains driving up to new heights through Switzerland and making our way out of Zermatt (a must-see town in Switzerland). We drove up as far up as we possibly could, and along the way up we saw waterfalls, different animals, small towns, cars racing, and we got some pretty unique and amazing views of the Alps.
Driving through we would see different animals just chilling on the side of the road in a nice grassy area.
As we kept driving we would see many different small towns, which were mostly just filled with locals living there. They were cool to see, but not really worth stopping every time we saw one since it was just mainly residential.
Peep another little waterfall^
When we got to as high as we could drive up, we started seeing a lot of snow, and it got pretty cold, rainy and windy.
As far as we could go up the roads and up the mountains, we stopped at a rest area type thing and just took some pictures and walked around. We didn’t stay that long though because it was pretty cold and rainy out.
The windy roads we were driving on that were all throughout the Alps^
A lot of times, the roads along the mountainside didn’t really have guardrails they just had little cement stubs like the ones pictured above.
Little waterfalls were all over from the runoff of melting ice and snow on top of the mountains
Out of the few cars we saw along with us through the Alps, the ones we saw above were racing.
We stopped multiple times and almost as much as we could just to take pictures and look at the views.
At times to keep going up through the Alps, we had to go down some (peep the waterfall- ones like these were literally a dime a dozen driving through the Alps).
From one of the stops we made on the way up
When we started nearing the highest point we could drive to^
Getting to drive way up into the Alps was something I’ll never forget, and the views along the way and at the highest point we could drive to, were priceless. In these set of pictures, we were driving in and then out of Zermatt, which is a picturesque, and one of my favorite if not all-time favorite, places to go in Switzerland. Next, I’ll be doing a post including pictures, GoPro videos (biking, hiking, zip lining, walking around, etc.), our hotel and overall all about my most recent trip to Zermatt. Hope you enjoyed this little slice of what it’s like driving through the Swiss Alps!
