Milan exceeded my expectations by a lot. I knew the city was a big fashion capital, and I also knew that it was filled with a lot of culture, but I didn’t really know what was there. When we had first entered the city it wasn’t as big as I had expected it to be, meaning no real big skyline or anything. Little did I know that there was a nice skyline and that I would be seeing the main part of the city when we got by the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milano.
First entering Milan we saw more of the outskirts than the actual city so at first, it wasn’t what I had expected, but it still looked gorgeous^.
After parking and finding our hotel, we looked around more in the center of the city where the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II were, and that was where the city really exceeded my expectations.
The very first place we checked out in the city was the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, which was this really pretty mall (one of the prettiest ones I’ve seen) right in what seemed like the center of Milan.
After the Galleria, we stopped to get some gelato ( so much better than ice cream) because in Italy, they make the best gelato.
Stracciatella flavor is always my go-to and 10/10 would recommend it.
Here were some of the other gelato flavors available; they have flavors ranging from pistachio and raisin, to cookie and licorice. There were some really different and unique flavors of gelato available at this one.
They also had popsicles and other cool-looking desserts available at this place too .
After enjoying some gelato, we walked right up the street to the Duomo.
The duomo, which is a cathedral, was so pretty from the outside and a lot of people recommended going inside and also looking at the rooftop view to see the skyline and everything of Milan.
^Inside the duomo
Going up to the top of the duomo took awhile, but it was totally worth it to get amazing views of Milan (including the skyline) :
Milan was so gorgeous, and my two favorite things we did there was definitely climbing up the Duomo to see the views of the city and shopping in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. There was more to do and see in the city, but since we were there for a day, we just hit the two top most recommended things to do in Milan. Going to the main part of the city is a must-do, especially if you’re only there for a short time. The Duomo is gorgeous and the rooftop offers views of the skyline, and the Vittorio Emanuele is really one of the prettiest malls I’ve been to, and it’s fun to go in the shops. This was a really great first time in Milan, and it was so fun to be there right before some fashion week events were going on.
(Also, here is a video of the short GoPro clips I got while in Milan. Some of the videos that I thought I got didn’t end up being on the GoPro so, a lot of duomo and drive into Milan and walking around wasn’t shown in the vid. ):
